
In a dynamic demonstration of commitment to community upliftment, the eMalahleni Local Municipality has forged a powerful alliance with corporate partners such as Maximum Profit Recovery (MaxProf) to launch the academic careers of ten exceptional students. This landmark initiative is more than just financial aid, it is a catalytic investment, cementing the belief that education is the ultimate tool for social transformation and youth empowerment.
The vibrant bursary ceremony was held at the eMalahleni Local Municipality in Witbank located in the Nkangala District of Mpumalanga on 14 October 2025, gathering representatives from the three committed entities to celebrate the recipients. The support package, totalling a substantial R230,000, is set to cover tuition fees effectively removing financial barriers and ensuring these promising scholars can pursue their dreams without constraint.
Diverse Talent, Ambitious Futures
These ten future leaders represent the breadth of talent across the region, hailing from institutions like the University of Johannesburg, Nkangala TVET College, University of KwaZulu-Natal, Fedisa Fashion School, Rosebank College, Varsity College, and Nelson Mandela University. Their ambitious career choices span critical fields such as Engineering, Public Relations, Information Technology, Commerce and Logistics, and Supply Chain. This reflects a determined, forward-looking vision for eMalahleni’s future workforce.
Leadership Endorses Education as the Ultimate Weapon
Executive Mayor Councillor Vusi Mkhatshwa delivered a compelling address to attendees, emphasizing the significance of education as a transformative force. He stated, “Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world.” Mayor Mkhatshwa further noted that supporting these students represents an investment not only in their personal development but also in the shared prosperity and future of eMalahleni.
Mrs. Renusha Ramdas, speaking on behalf of MaxProf, affirmed the company’s steadfast commitment to corporate social responsibility stating, “Although this is our first year providing bursaries at Emalahleni Municipality, I sincerely hope it won’t be the last. Our intention is to return annually to support the students of eMalahleni.” She also encouraged the students to work diligently strive for success while remembering to give back to their communities and making a positive impact.
