Each year, MaxProf participates in the CIGFARO Annual Conference, which is often hosted in Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. This year, the event took place from 5 to 8 October 2026 at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre (ICC). This highly anticipated event provides an opportunity for us to engage with stakeholders and showcase our services through a custom-designed exhibition stand.

Representing MaxProf at the conference were CEO Pratish Ramdas, Head of Operations Sanjeevan Bisnath, and Business Development Officer Moratwe Mashao, with a cameo appearance by Eastern Cape Regional Manager Cedric Mataka at the start of the conference. Together, the team engaged with current and prospective clients on various matters relating to South African taxation and alternative revenue generation opportunities within local government.

We also highlighted MaxProf’s commitment to giving back. In addition to the services we render, we allocate 2% of client fees received from municipalities to a dedicated bursary fund. Once the fund reaches a predetermined threshold, we partner with EST Sourcing and the relevant municipality to identify deserving learners, including academically gifted students and those classified as part of the “missing middle”. Following a comprehensive vetting process, successful candidates receive financial assistance that can be used towards historical debt, registration fees, tuition, boarding costs, or essential learning equipment such as laptops. Please see below an image of a bursary handover at Rand West City Local Municipality, demonstrating our commitment to making a tangible difference in the lives of deserving learners.

Our attendance this year was particularly significant as municipalities across South Africa continue to face increasing financial pressure and heightened scrutiny from SARS. MaxProf assists municipalities in strengthening their financial position through VAT compliance reviews and the identification of opportunities to enhance revenue. Our work focuses on high-risk areas frequently scrutinised by SARS, including INEP grants, VAT apportionment calculations and applications, principal-agent VAT determinations, and interest charged on Eskom and water board accounts.
This aligns closely with the purpose of the CIGFARO Annual Conference, which seeks to strengthen leadership, governance, financial management, and innovation within the public sector to better respond to South Africa’s evolving service delivery and financial management challenges.
