August marked the commencement of the South African Local Government Association’s (SALGA) Provincial Members’ Assemblies (PMAs). These annual gatherings are convened to fulfil SALGA’s constitutional obligation to host Provincial Members’ Assemblies and provide municipalities with an opportunity to consider and adopt key governance and compliance documents for the new financial year. The assemblies also allow delegates to reflect on the Legacy Report of the Provincial Executive Committee, confirm strategic priorities for the years ahead, and ensure continuity of programmes, initiatives and institutional commitments. Importantly, the PMAs strengthen collaboration amongst municipalities and reinforce SALGA’s commitment to supporting responsive, capable and accountable local government.
MaxProf was privileged to participate as an exhibitor at the PMAs in Gauteng, Mpumalanga, Northern Cape and Eastern Cape. The events provided an excellent platform to engage with municipal representatives and showcase the value that MaxProf brings to the local government sector.
MaxProf specialises in assisting municipalities to recover Value-Added Tax (VAT) and other tax refunds from the South African Revenue Service (SARS). These recovered funds provide much-needed financial relief and can be redirected towards critical service delivery projects, the settlement of debt obligations such as payments to Eskom and service providers, and the continued operation of municipal services.
Beyond financial recovery, MaxProf is committed to making a lasting impact in the communities it serves. Through its CSR Initiative, the company contributes 2% of its revenue back to municipalities in the form of bursaries awarded in partnership with local mayors. This initiative aims to bridge socio-economic divides, support the “missing middle”, and equip young people with the education and skills needed to pursue meaningful employment or entrepreneurial opportunities.
