Maxprof And EST Sourcing Partnered With Merafong City Local Municipality to Turn Academic Potential Into Community Triumph

On 13 May, a life-changing milestone unfolded for six extraordinary young people as their futures were rewritten. In a powerful demonstration of community upliftment, MaxProf and EST Sourcing, in proud partnership with the Merafong City Local Municipality, officially handed over crucial financial backing to six resilient students: five from Westcol TVET College and one from Ikhala TVET College.

This initiative is far from a temporary, one-time act of charity; it represents the continuation of a legacy. Year after year, this partnership has been quietly investing in the region, consistently raising the stakes and increasing its financial support. Ultimately, this moment proved a vital truth: when local government and corporate citizens align their vision, local talent genuinely thrives.

The R90,000 Legacy of Impact

True impact isn’t built on sporadic acts of charity, it is forged through consistency. This year’s handover marks the latest chapter in a deep-rooted, evolving partnership between MaxProf and the Merafong City community. Over the years, this alliance has steadily amplified its investment, matching economic changes with an even greater expansion of heart and financial backing:

  • 2022 Investment: R76,000 (10 Bursaries)
  • 2024 Investment: R80,000 (5 Bursaries)
  • Current Investment: R90,000 (6 Bursaries)

“Today, we are proud to continue this journey by awarding 6 bursaries valued at R90,000,” said EST Sourcing CEO, Mrs. Renusha Ramdas, her voice echoing the pride of an organisation that refuses to let financial barriers dictate a student’s destiny.

From Textbooks to Turning Wheels

The true heartbeat of the ceremony belonged to the scholars themselves. These six individuals represent a diverse toolkit of skills specifically designed to inject fresh energy into South Africa’s economic engine:

  • Namhla Kilili ( Office Administration, Westcol TVET)
  • Batumelo Matadinyane (Information Technology, Westcol TVET)
  • Onela Maduna (Business Management, Westcol TVET)
  • Gift Tshoba (Engineering, Ikhala TVET)
  • Bangane Thandi (Fitter and Turner, Westcol TVET)
  • Refilwe Letsie (Management Assistant, Westcol TVET College)

“Don’t Just Repeat History, Create It”

Speaking on behalf of Executive Mayor Ms. Best, the MMC of Health and Social Responsibility, Mr. Jeff Tibane, delivered a grounded, parental piece of advice: Focus- He urged the students to lock out the noise of the world, treat this opportunity as a sacred shield, and run hard toward their academic goals.

Mrs. Ramdas beautifully expanded on why this investment matters, challenging traditional, rigid ideas of schooling.

“Together we are making a difference, one student at a time,” Ramdas noted. “The goal of education is to create a society of people that are capable of being innovative and creating something new and not simply repeating what previous generations have done.”

Lifting the Anchor of Financial Despair

To truly understand the weight of this day, one has to understand the invisible burdens these students carry. Mr. Lethukuthula Mtshali, the Westcol TVET College Campus Manager, brought a wave of raw emotion to the room as he spoke on behalf of the academic institutions.

“Many students come from challenging backgrounds where paying for education is very difficult,” Mtshali shared, his words painting a vivid picture of the quiet struggles happening in homes across the municipality. “So, these bursaries have lifted a heavy burden from their shoulders and have given our students the opportunity to focus on their studies to build a better future.”

But Mtshali’s speech wasn’t just a thank-you note; it was a passing of the torch. He issued a profound challenge to the recipients, reminding them that they are no longer just students, they are the future architects of success. He emphasised that they must carry the responsibility of this gift with dignity, with the ultimate goal of one day reaching back into Merafong to lift up the next generation.

As the curtains closed on a morning of smiles and handshakes, Mtshali offered a final blessing to the visionaries behind the funding: “Your kindness and generosity will never be forgotten, may you continue changing the lives of many young people through education.”
