MaxProf Brings its VAT Expertise to CIGFARO Audit and Risk Indaba

MaxProf recently participated in the CIGFARO Audit, Risk and Performance Indaba, which took place from 20 to 23 April at the Premier Hotel ICC in East London. The Indaba brought together key stakeholders from local government, audit, risk and finance disciplines to engage on critical issues affecting governance, financial sustainability and service delivery.

Representing MaxProf at the event were Chief Executive Officer Pratish Ramdas, Deputy Chairman Bernard Saayman and Regional Manager Cedric Mataka. The delegation actively engaged with municipal leadership, audit and risk professionals, and sector partners, sharing insights on the strategic value that MaxProf’s VAT and Tax Optimisation services bring to municipalities and other public sector institutions.

Discussions throughout the Indaba highlighted persistent challenges faced by municipalities, particularly around revenue generation, cash flow constraints, audit outcomes and compliance with complex tax legislation. These challenges continue to place pressure on already stretched municipal resources and often hinder the delivery of essential services to communities.

MaxProf’s engagement focused on demonstrating how structured VAT recovery, tax optimisation and compliance reviews can unlock revenue, improve financial controls and support sustainable budgeting within local government. Through identifying missed VAT claims, correcting historical errors and strengthening ongoing compliance processes, municipalities are better positioned to improve cash inflows without increasing the burden on ratepayers.

The Indaba also highlighted the growing importance of collaboration between finance, audit and risk functions in strengthening governance and accountability. And the participation in the CIGFARO Audit and Risk Indaba reinforced MaxProf’s commitment to supporting local government through practical, compliant and value-adding financial solutions. The engagements in East London provided an important platform to exchange knowledge, understand evolving municipal challenges and deepen relationships with stakeholders across the public sector.

MaxProf remains focused on partnering with municipalities to enhance revenue optimisation, strengthen governance and contribute to improved service delivery outcomes across South Africa.
