MaxProf and EST-Sourcing Empower Metsimaholo Local Municipality Students with Tuition Support

In celebration of South Africa’s Heritage Month, MaxProf and EST-Sourcing hosted a bursary award ceremony at Metsimaholo Local Municipality in the Free State province on 13 September 2024. This initiative underscores the importance of reflecting on the country’s diverse cultural heritage while paving the way for a brighter future through education.

Heritage Month is a time to honour South Africa’s rich cultural diversity and unity. It offers an opportunity to not only reflect on the past but to invest in future generations. By joining forces, the public and private sectors create a powerful community that draws strength from diversity, fosters understanding through dialogue, and promotes compassion through action. This bursary program exemplifies MaxProf and EST-Sourcing’s commitment to empowering youth and driving positive change in South Africa.

Supporting Future Leaders

During the ceremony, bursaries totalling R86,500 were awarded to four deserving students from various institutions. These students are:

  • Tumelo Soldaat: Bachelor of Commerce in Chartered Accountancy, North-West University
  • Boitumelo Ralitsela: Bachelor of Arts in Law, North-West University
  • Bonolo Lesupi: Hot Kitchen Chef & Patisserie, specialising in culinary arts
  • Molifi Lekhohlopo: Marketing Management N6, Sedibeng TVET College

A Dream Revived

Speaking on behalf of the recipients, Bonolo Lesupi shared her heartfelt story. She highlighted how financial constraints forced her to pause her studies for a year. However, with the support of MaxProf and EST-Sourcing, she’s now able to pursue her dream of becoming a chef. Bonolo’s passion for the culinary industry shines through her dedication – she bakes and sells goods to save for her tuition. Her gratitude and determination resonated with everyone present, showcasing the profound impact of this initiative.

Following the event, Bonolo shared her testimony via email with MaxProf and EST-Sourcing:

My name is Bonolo Lesupi, born in the Free State. I am one of the students who got funded by EST-Sourcing and MaxProf, in partnership with Metsimaholo Local Municipality. I never thought that I would have the opportunity to write such a letter, but they made it possible for me to stand and say proudly that they have changed my entire life completely. They managed to make a turn in my life by helping me with financial costs for my tuition fees. As depressing as it was to sit the whole year without going to school as a result of no funding, I was blessed to be picked as one of the students who will have an opportunity to further my study with no stress. It's an opportunity I will forever be grateful for because I never thought I would have the opportunity to be a student as well. With passion and high efforts, I saw that they truly care about education as much as I am.

To EST-Sourcing, thank you so much for recognising me and my potential. I am excited to make you proud and to make people aware of the great opportunity you have given me. I hope that you will be blessed to not only help me but be able to help more students.

In his closing remarks, Mayor Malindi encouraged the students to “Use these bursaries as a springboard to achieve your dreams.”

Building a Brighter Future Together

This event serves as a powerful reminder that while we celebrate our individual cultural identities, we must also cherish our shared humanity. By investing in education, we strengthen our collective hope for a future where all South Africans thrive side by side in harmony. MaxProf and EST-Sourcing’s initiative stands as a testament to the transformative power of unity and collaboration.
